It is the micro-implantation of coloring pigments into the skin for aesthetic purposes. It’s used to enhance, contour, and outline facial features. It is also a valuable procedure for camouflaging scars, burns, skin pigmentation variances caused by vitiligo, correcting some facial irregularities, or to further enhance facial rejuvenation. Only specialists in micro-pigmentation can perform this procedure on the face tattoo artists cannot. Practitioners use instruments much more delicate in design that provide natural-looking results. Procedures are considered permanent because pigment is tattooed into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. The pigment implanted in the skin will fade over time. Periodic refreshing will be needed. The time in between touch ups vary significantly person to person. Exposure to the sun and other environmental elements, skin care products, type of skin, and other factors can cause the pigment implanted to fade with time.
